A natural home birth is safe. It's true! Women are most likely to labor best in a place where they feel free, safe, and private, with attendants whom they know and trust.

Educate yourself. Look at the studdies and the stats. You might be surprised to find that, on average, a midwife assisted natural birth may result in less chance of complications, fewer interventions, and a healthier birth for you and for your baby.

I found out I was pregnant on January 5, 2011 and around the first of March I still hadn’t seen a doctor. I was putting it off needless to say! I My insurance had changed from my first birth so the doctor I had with him, I could no longer see. So needless to say, I was on a doctor hunt! I was flipping through the phone book looking for an OBGYN and somehow flipped to the midwife section. My husband was standing in living room and I jokingly said, “we should just have it at home.” Then he said “YES! We should!” I was thinking, no way! But the more I thought about it the better it sounded! Slades voice resonated in my ears, “You could do it!” I jumped online and Janae’s ad had a website on it so I began reading!  Three hours later, I had made my decision. I sprung the for sure news on Slade. He told me to pray about it and I did! But I already knew the answer. Every time I thought about it I had the calmest feeling. Kind of like warm water being poured over my head. So I called and set up a consultation with her. She answered all of my questions and right off the bat I knew I loved her. I called her a few days later and asked her to be my midwife! Every appointment was so great and I felt so taken care of. She answered all of my questions and better yet gave me a choice on everything, tests, ultrasounds, blood work, etc.

Then came the birth! Friday evening, September 2, I started feeling cramps. I wasn’t sure if this was pre-labor or not so I just shook it off and kept moving. A few hours later I mentioned to my husband that we might get a baby soon. How soon, I didn’t know? The cramps kept getting harder and harder. At about 11 pm I was sure this was labor and I started timing contractions until about 11:45 PM. My husband gave me a priesthood blessing and I called Janae at midnight. I was so grateful to see her and I felt so relaxed in my own environment! I never once felt scared or nervous. Janae did such a great job at helping me breathe, place hot towels (which felt absolutely amazing) and help Slade know how to help me. Quigley was born at 2:40 am! After it was all over Slade said, “I feel like Janae had everything under control and that she took care of you a lot better than anyone in the hospital did. I never felt scared or worried about you because she was right there the whole time.” She took her time and helped me get the baby here safely! The spirit that was in our home was so amazing.  After the birth, I got to climb in my own bed and snuggle down in with my newborn, husband and 3 year old that was awake! It was such an amazing experience having my 2nd child born at home! Nothing can, or will ever compare to bringing the Lords children into this world!
